The Critical Contrast
For this BAF 2018 edition Galerie Janine Rubeiz is presenting an optimal piece by Zad Moultaka who represented Lebanon at the 57th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition, in 2017, the Lebanese Pavilion.
“The Critical Contrast” is a tribute of the Galerie Janine Rubeiz to its prime harvest artists.
The Galerie is showcasing artworks by: Shafic Abboud, Yvette Achkar, Etel Adnan, Huguette El Khoury Caland, Laure Ghorayeb, Halim Jurdak, Jamil Molaeb.
This delicately curated exhibition represents a key collection of works on paper including drawings, collage, and prints. Many of these rare artworks may have never been shown before.
Our choice to showcase these works on paper derives from our belief in their undeniable value and visual wealth in the production of these artists. This exhibition highlights the importance of preserving this essential pictorial production and inspiration.
These works are a contribution to the thoughts and research that have defined these artists’ preoccupations and ways of thinking, putting forward their concerns, references that have contributed to shape their identities.
